FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU Department of Athletics has become just the third school in the nation to partner with Australian-based calendar communication company ECAL to provide Eagles fans the ability to easily input every FGCU sporting event into their personal calendar on their favorite electronic device.

Fans can personalize the free download – which takes just minutes – to include any and all of FGCU’s 15 Division-I sport schedules. Once complete, the schedules will automatically be included on fans’ personal calendars and feature game information, reminders, ticket links and more.

The simple step-by-step process begins with fans logging on to fgcuathletics.com/ecal and clicking on their desired sport(s). Fans can then choose the type of calendar they want to use, the method of delivery (email/text) and a short time later the app will seamlessly input all the event information into the calendar of their preferred device.

The app caters to the modern trend of direct communication while allowing fans the easiest way to ensure they don’t miss any FGCU action. ECAL – a pioneer of calendar communication founded eight years ago – supports several brands, including Apple, Android, Blackberry and Windows phones or tables.

“We’re excited to begin our partnership with ECAL,” said Jason MacBain, Director of Athletics Communication. “We believe that the service ECAL offers positions FGCU to be a national leader in calendar communication. Fans’ time is extremely valuable in today’s ever-changing society, and this product makes it easy and simple for them to keep track of each team. ECAL will send any and all schedules right to the user’s calendar with several embedded links which makes their experience even more comprehensive.”

The dynamic app is also being used by several professional sports teams, including the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Hawks. ECAL has joined forces with professional sports leagues such as Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA).

The innovative app, which was first implemented by East Carolina University and is also being utilized by Valparaiso, makes it easier to schedule events in a fast-paced society that is more social than ever. For more information, visit www.ecal.net.
