FORT MYERS, Fla. – Fans who aren’t able to make the trek north for the 2012 Atlantic Sun Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments can listen to all the action live on ESPN 770AM in Southwest Florida, beginning with the top-seeded FGCU women’s program taking on eighth-seeded ETSU on Wednesday at noon.
ESPN 770’s David Moulton (P-B-P) and Mark Miller (Analyst), of the Miller & Moulton Show that airs from 2-7 p.m. on Monday-Friday, will have the call from the University Center in Macon, Ga. for every game FGCU appears in. The games can also be heard online at www.770ESPN.com or on www.FGCUATHLETICS.com.
FGCU’s women (26-2) earned the No. 1 seed by producing the A-Sun’s third-ever undefeated regular season with an 18-0 record. The Eagles’ showdown with ETSU (8-21, 7-11) in the quarterfinal round will be the second meeting between the two teams in a five-day span. FGCU took both games from the Bucs this season with the most recent win coming last Saturday in Johnson City, Tenn.
Led by first-year head coach Andy Enfield, the men’s team (13-16, 8-10) earned the No. 6 seed and will open its first-ever A-Sun Tournament appearance with No. 3 USC Upstate (20-11, 13-5) on Thursday, Mar. 1 at 8:30 p.m. in the final game of the quarterfinals. The No. 6 seed has won a game in five of the last six A-Sun Tournaments, making an appearance in the championship game each of the last two years (UNF – 2011, Mercer – 2010).
Both of FGCU’s quarterfinal games can also be seen live on ESPN3.com. Live stats and in-game twitter updates (@fgcueagles) will also be available.
