Chihil Named College Sports Madness' A-Sun Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

FORT MYERS, Fla. - After leading the Eagles (21-2, 13-0 A-Sun) to a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference road wins last week, senior Courtney Chihil (Tipp City, Ohio/Alter HS) earned her first College Sports Madness’ Atlantic Sun Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award, the website announced on Monday.

For the week, Chihil averaged 16.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals, while shooting 53.8 percent from the field.

In FGCU’s 72-61 win at UNF (Feb. 2), Chihil, who was named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District 4 Women’s Basketball first team on Thursday, Feb. 2, scored 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field and 2-of-2 from the charity stripe, while also adding four steals and three boards.

The Nursing major finished with a season-high 17 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the field, while also adding three rebounds, in the Green and Blue’s 70-60 win over Jacksonville (Feb. 4)

Fans can get ticket booklets that include admission into every game of the men’s and women’s tournament (14 games) for $75. All tickets are general admission. Tickets can be purchased by calling the FGCU ticket office Monday-Friday, between 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 239-590-7145, in person at the Alico Arena ticket office or by ordering online at www.fgcuathletics.com/tickets. Tickets through the FGCU ticket office must be purchased by 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 27.
