FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team earned the No. 4 spot, for the fifth consecutive week, in the CollegeInsider.com Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening (Jan. 10).
Green Bay, Delaware and Gonzaga are the three teams ranked higher than the Eagles in this week’s poll.
The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.
The Green and Blue are one of two Atlantic Sun Conference team’s represented in this week’s Top 25. Stetson is ranked No. 18.
In the Green and Blue’s last outing (Jan. 9), senior Eglah Griffin (Fort Myers, Fla./Dunbar HS/Seminole CC) scored a game-high 17 points, as Eagles knocked down 11 triples for the second game in a row, en route to a 74-51 win over A-Sun foe Jacksonville on Monday night at Alico Arena.
FGCU (14-2, 6-0 A-Sun) will now head to Nashville, Tenn. to take on Belmont (4-12, 3-2 A-Sun) and Lipscomb (3-13, 1-4 A-Sun). FGCU will face the Bruins on Jan. 12 (8:00 pm ET), before taking on the Bisons on Jan. 14 (5:00pm ET).
