Women's Basketball Ranked No. 4 in Mid-Major Top 25

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team earned the No. 4 spot, for the fourth consecutive week, in the CollegeInsider.com Women’s Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening (Jan. 3).

Green Bay, Delaware and Gonzaga are the three teams ranked higher than the Eagles in this week’s poll.

The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

The Green and Blue are one of two Atlantic Sun Conference team’s represented in this week’s Top 25. Stetson is ranked No. 25.

In the Green and Blue’s last game (Jan. 2), senior Kelsey Jacobson (Barnesville, Minn./Moorhead HS) scored a career-high 24 points on a career-high eight three-pointers, as the FGCU women’s basketball team knocked down 14 triples, en route to a 98-50 blowout win over A-Sun foe Mercer on Monday night..

The Eagles will now head to Kennesaw, Ga. to take on A-Sun foe Kennesaw State. FGCU will face the Owls (6-8, 1-2 A-Sun) on Jan. 4 (4:45 p.m.).
