Jackson Picks Up A-Sun Player of the Week Honors

FORT MYERS, Fla. – For her performance in FGCU’s 69-41 blowout of ACC foe Virginia Tech, Nicoya Jackson (Houston, Texas/Cypress Springs HS/Southwestern Christian) earned Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honors, for the second time in her career, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

In the Green and Blue’s huge win over the Hokies, Jackson, who recently earned College Sports Madness’ National Mid-Major and Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week accolades, finished 15 points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals in 25 minutes. She drained 5-of-13 shots from the field, including 3-of-10 from long range, in the win.

The Eagles (8-1) now head to Honolulu, Hawai’i for the Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine Invitational from Dec. 28-30. FGCU will face NC State (Dec. 28; 11:00 p.m.), Hawai’i (Dec. 29; 11:55 p.m.) and Alcorn State (Dec. 30; 6:00 p.m.) in the round-robin format.
