FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team earned the No. 3 spot in this week’s CollegeInsider.com Women's Mid-Major Top 25 poll, announced on Tuesday evening. FGCU came in at the No. 3 spot for the fifth consecutive week.
FGCU received two of the 31 first place votes, while Green Bay and Bowling Green, the only squads ranked higher than the Eagles, picked up 28 and one first place votes, respectively.
The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from the America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Colonial, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.
The Blue and Green are the lone Atlantic Sun Conference team represented in this week’s Top 25.
The Blue and Green (9-0, 2-0 A-Sun) will return to the court on Monday, Jan. 3 when they play host to Belmont in their A-Sun home opener. Tipoff at Alico Arena is set for 5:15 p.m.
