11 Days of A-Sun Women's Basketball: FGCU

MACON, Ga. - Each day from Oct. 29th through Nov. 12th, the Atlantic Sun Conference will preview the upcoming 2010-11 women's basketball season with 11 Days of Atlantic Sun Women's Basketball. Today, we talk with Shannon Murphy, an all-conference senior guard for the FGCU Eagles.

Top Returning Scorer: Shannon Murphy, Senior Guard – An all-around player for the Eagles, Murphy averaged 10.7 points, 4.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game in 2010 en route to earning second team all-conference honors. Murphy’s top game came against Mercer as she knocked down seven three-pointers and delivered eight assists in a seven-point Eagles home victory.

Season Opening Game: Seton Hall at FGCU, Nov. 12th at 7:05 p.m. (ASun.tv) - The Eagles open up the 2010-11 season with a home game against Big East Conference member Seton Hall. After a 24-7 mark last season in which they finished second in the A-Sun regular season standings, FGCU brings in seven newcomers to the team to face the Pirates, who recorded a 9-21 mark last year.

Conference Game to Watch: ETSU at FGCU, Feb. 7th at 7 p.m. –The 2009 A-Sun Regular Season Champions face the 2008 and 2010 conference champions for supremacy in the conference when FGCU takes on ETSU on Feb. 7th. The two squads split the season series last year as each team held serve on their home courts with the Eagles coming away with a 92-55 blowout of the Bucs in Alico Arena.
