South Bend, IN- FGCU began the first game of its four game road trip to Indiana tonight, and what a start it was.
Entering the game undefeated, and barely challenged on the year, the Eagles faced a tough University of Indiana South Bend team.
The first half proved to open their eyes as they went into the locker room at halftime down 43-35.
Fortunately, Coach Karl Smesko made some key adjustments, and sparked his players, as they would score 58 points in the second half to come from behind and defeat IUSB 93-80.
Trish Fleming, who has been the Eagles MVP to this point showed why she was one of the best players in the country two years ago at IPFW, pouring in a season high 35 points on 10-22 shooting. Fleming was perfect from the line as she went 11-11.
Robyn Swain, who has improved tremendously over the past few games, had another solid performance scoring 11 points and pulling down 7 rebounds.
Megan Jones and Rebecca Stewart had 12 points each.
IUSB was led by Emily Ladd, who came off the bench to score 17 points.
The Eagles improve to 8-0 on the season, and will face Tri-State University Thursday night.
