Fort Myers- The Florida Gulf Coast women’s basketball team defeated Warner Southern College tonight 74-54 to stay undefeated (4-0). FGCU showed off its depth tonight as six different players contributed significantly. Trish Fleming continued to lead the Eagles as she poured in 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. Fleming, battling a dislocated finger injury, started off slow, but ended up shooting 50% from the field as she went 8-16. Noreen McCallum continued to rebound well as she pulled down 11 boards, adding 8 points. Warner Southern’s Katherine Mack led both teams in scoring as she went 12-20 from the field, good for 28 points. Mack kept her team in the game numerous times with her hustle and solid shooting. The Eagles dominated on the boards as Robyn Swain stepped up grabbing 10 rebounds. Jennifer Santana and Amanda Pointelin provided solid play as Santana ended up with 13 points and 5 rebounds while Pointelin finished with 8 points and 3 boards. Coach Smesko and the Eagles will go for number 5 this Thursday as they travel to St. Augenstine to battle Flagler College.
