Adams and Hansen Earn Weekly Honors

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Redshirt-senior Betsy Adams (Monticello, Ind./Twin Lakes HS/Valpo) and redshirt junior Sarah Hansen (Edinboro, Pa./General McLane HS) helped lead FGCU to a huge 63-56 win at ACC foe Virginia Tech on Sunday, Dec. 16 at Cassell Coliseum, and for their performances, they claimed Player of the Week honors.

Adams, a transfer from Valpo, earned A-Sun Newcomer of the Week accolades from the conference office after she finished with a game-high 19 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 from long distance in 35 minutes of playing time.

The newest member of the FGCU women’s basketball 1,000-point club, Hansen tallied her eighth double figure scoring performance of the season, a game-high 19 points, to go with six rebounds and four assists, to earn her third career College Sports Madness Atlantic Sun Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award.

The Green and Blue, who are 60-14 all-time in the month of December and are 2-2 against Atlantic 10 Conference competition, will be back in action on Wednesday, Dec. 19 for a matchup with the Richmond Spiders. Game time in Richmond, Va. is set for 7 p.m.
