FORT MYERS, Fla. – Winners of 16 of their last 17, the first place FGCU volleyball team will host the Panthers of FIU in non-conference action Tuesday night. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

FGCU (20-8, 15-1 A-Sun), the first team to punch its ticket to the 2012 A-Sun Conference Tournament, is 1-5 all-time against FIU (8-17, 5-8 Sun Belt). The Eagles’ lone win in the series came earlier this season at the University of Florida Tournament (Aug. 25). Junior Christine Pinder (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS/Houston/Central Florida CC) led the Eagles with 10 kills and 10 digs in the 3-2 (25-23, 13-25, 25-17, 18-25, 15-12) win over the Panthers.

The Green and Blue, who lead the A-Sun in hitting percentage (.264) and opponent hitting percentage (.177), showcase five players that have registered at least 170 kills so far this season, led by sophomore Jill Hopper’s (Muncie, Ind./Yorktown HS) team-leading 278. Sophomore Olivia Mesner (Boca Raton, Fla./Spanish River HS) leads the team and the conference in hitting percentage (.440). Sophomore Whitney Masters (Muncie, Ind./Wapahani HS) leads the squad with 352 digs (3.52/set), while the setting duo of sophomore Gigi Meyer (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) and junior Courtney Greenberg (Fort Myers, Fla./Fort Myers HS/Juniata College) has run the FGCU offense, averaging 5.88 assists and 4.48 assists per set, respectively.

FIU, losers of two of their last three matches, used a 15-kill, 10-dig effort from Marija Prsa to sweep FAU, 3-0 (25-9, 25-22, 25-20), last Saturday (Nov. 3). Ashlee Hodgskin tallied a team-high 33 assists and senior Ryanne Milligan posted a squad-best three service aces and 17 digs in the victory.
