SCOUTING THE LADY BISONS
The Eagles will face Lipscomb on Friday, Oct. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in a battle of the A-Sun’s unbeaten. The matchup with the Lady Bisons should be a hard-fought one, as both teams come in riding seven-match winning streaks in conference contests. The Eagles are 4-0 on the road in A-Sun play, while A-Sun preseason favorite LU is 2-0 at home this season in conference matches.
The last time the Green and Blue defeated Lipscomb was at Allen Arena a 3-2 victory on Oct. 4, 2008. The Eagles’ 3-2 (25-23, 14-25, 25-22, 22-25, 15-13) victory was the last home conference loss for the Bisons. FGCU has knocked off Lipscomb only one other time, defeating the Bisons 3-1 (25-16, 25-16, 22-25, 25-23) on Oct. 19, 2008 in Fort Myers.
The Eagles and the Bison rank first and second in the A-Sun in hitting pct., opponent hitting pct., assists and kills. FGCU also is second in the conference in blocks. Lipscomb’s Kaycee Green and Catilin Dotson lead the A-Sun in kills (4.52/set) and assists (12.26/set) in A-Sun play, while Dotson also ranks 16th in the nation in assists in the latest NCAA statistical rankings.
SCOUTING THE NORSE
NKU is hosting their first home matches after having spent seven of the last eight weekends competing on the road. The Norse own a 2-1 home record, having dropped a decision earlier this season to Lipscomb and defeating UNF and Jacksonville.
The Norse have one of the A-Sun's most efficient attacks, as they lead the conference with a .251 hitting percentage. NKU also has two of the league's top four players in attack percentage in Jenna Ruble (.350, ranking 1st) and Shelby Buschur (.322, ranking 4th) while setter Jenna Schreiver leads the league with 11.49 assists per set.
The last time the Norse and Eagles battled was on Aug. 24, 2006 at Alico Arena. Erika Fonseca blasted 13 kills as the Green and Blue defeated NKU, 3-0 (30-9, 30-17, 30-22) in the 2006 season-opener
