The Eagles rallied and went on defeat Belmont 5-4 before picking up their seventh consecutive victory, when they defeated Lipscomb 13-2 in five innings.

Carmen Paez Earns Spot On A-Sun Preseason Team, Eagles Predicted to Finish Sixth in Conference
Stetson, a team perennially near the top of the Atlantic Sun softball standings earned top billing from the conference coaches, edging out the 2007 regular-season champ Kennesaw State for the top spot in the 2008 preseason poll. The Hatters, who will host the Atlantic Sun Championship in May, overwhelmingly won the nod as the favorite to win the tournament.

FGCU Softball Head Coach Dave Deiros has announced the hiring of Ashley Spencer (Cecil) as assistant softball coach. Spencer rejoins the staff at FGCU after serving as an assistant for the Eagles from 2005-07, when she helped Eagles compile a 120-17 record over that span.

FGCU Softball Inks Trio for 2009
FGCU softball head coach David Deiros announced that three players have signed National Letters of Intent to attend FGCU next fall and play for the 2008-09 Eagle softball team, which finished last season with a 62-8 record and ranked No. 10 in the nation at the Division II level.
