FGCU Athletics has named softball player Kelsey Carpenter (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty HS) and men’s tennis player Lance Lvovsky (Dania, Fla./Broward Virtual School/Jacksonville) as recipients of the Northwestern Mutual Academic Student-Athletes of the Month Award for the month of May.

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After another successful season in 2014, FGCU softball Head Coach David Deiros announced the addition of three student-athletes to the incoming class. These three athletes will join 11 previously signed players to form the largest recruit class since the inaugural 2002-003 season and will join the Eagles for the 2014-15 academic year.

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Positions in the 2014 FGCU Softball Advanced Summer Camps are still available. The team is offering advanced camps for hitting, defense and pitching June 9-11 in three-hour sessions. Registration will be open until the first day of camp with a $10 late fee applied to all who register after the designated deadline.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- After a successful 2014 season and an impressive Atlantic Sun Tournament run, two members of the FGCU softball team were honored with National Fastpitch Coaches' Association regional awards. Junior Kelsey Carpenter (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty High School) and senior Chelsea Zgrabik (Venice, Fla./Venice High School) both earned a position on the NFCA All-South Region Third Team, as announced by the organization on Thursday.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Despite an upset of top-seeded and nationally ranked USC Upstate to start the day, the FGCU softball team's season came to a close with a loss to Mercer at the 2014 Atlantic Sun Championship on Friday evening. The Eagles defeated USC Upstate 8-7 in the first game of the day to advance to the consolation bracket final but ultimately dropped an 11-inning battle with Mercer 2-1. The no. 6 seeded Eagles finish the season with a record of 33-26-1 after a strong tournament run.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Backed by five runs on five hits in the first two innings of the game, the FGCU softball team earned a 5-3 win over no. 5 Kennesaw State Thursday afternoon in the 2014 Atlantic Sun Championship.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Despite a fourth-inning home run from senior Brittney Garabedian, the no. 6 FGCU softball team fell to no. 3 Stetson 4-1 Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the Atlantic Sun Championship. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 31-25-1 on the season and will face the loser of the no. 4 Mercer/no. 5 Kennesaw State game Thursday at 3 p.m. CST. The Hatters improve to 35-12 and will face Lipscomb in the second round.

MACON, Ga. – With just one day remaining until the 2014 Atlantic Sun Tournament, three members of the FGCU softball team earned A-Sun All-Conference honors, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. Junior Kelsey Carpenter (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty High School) and senior Chelsea Zgrabik (Venice, Fla./Venice High School) both earned a position on the All-Conference First Team, while senior Jessica Barnes (Winter Haven, Fla./Haines City High School) was named Second Team All-Conference.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- On the heels of another 30-win season, the FGCU softball team will compete at the 2014 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament this week as the no. 6 seed. The double-elimination tournament features the league's top six teams and is hosted by Lipscomb University at Draper Diamond.
