FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU Softball team will square off with Western Kentucky for the FGCU/Four Points by Sheraton Invitational championship today at 1:30 p.m. predicated by the third place game featuring Ole Miss and Georgetown at 11:15 a.m. The Eagles will also play a consolation game opposite Liberty at 9 a.m.

The Eagles came from behind to dispatch Western Kentucky last night 3-2 and followed that up with a 9-0 defeat of Liberty in the nightcap. FGCU’s 4-0 start to 2014 is already the best in program history. Both Jessica Barnes (Winter Haven, Fla./Haines City HS) and Kelsey Carpenter (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty HS) have already homered twice this weekend and Shelby Morgan (High Springs, Fla./Sante Fe HS) returned from her 2013 season-ending bicep injury to pitch five shutout innings opposite Liberty.
