FORT MYERS, Fla. – To continue its offseason training, the FGCU cross country teams competed in five spring track meets, all of which took place in the state of Florida.
“We take full advantage of the five track meets we are allowed to compete in during the off season,” said FGCU head coach Cassandra Goodson. “This spring we have had some outstanding performances.”
Despite track and field not being one of FGCU’s 15 intercollegiate athletic programs, the men’s and women’s cross country teams used the events as an opportunity to compete during their offseason.
The Eagles opened with a trip to Miami, Fla. for the UM Hurricane Invitational (Mar. 15-16) and followed it up with a trip to Tallahassee, Fla. the following week for FSU Relays (Mar. 22). The Green and Blue then made a visit to the UNF Invite (Mar. 30) in Jacksonville, Fla., followed by a trip to Gainesville, Fla. for the Pepsi Florida Relays (Apr. 4) before bringing the spring season to a close with a return trip to Miami, Fla. for the UM Alumni Invite (Apr. 11).
The men’s squad set a total of 22 personal records over the course of the five meets, with the women’s team having set 16 personal record times in the spring.
