FORT MYERS, Fla. – With men’s and women’s basketball season tickets already on sale, the FGCU athletic department held its first two weekly drawings for those who are part of the renewal incentive program. In appreciation for its loyal early bird season ticket purchases, FGCU is holding weekly drawings during the month of April.
William Carpenter won a reserved parking pass for Alico Arena during the 2012-13 home basketball season for the season ticket holders who renewed their seats from March 28-April 12. In the second drawing that was held from those who had renewed by April 19th, Daniel Bordeau won a suite for a 2012-13 men’s or women’s basketball game of his choice.
With two drawings still remaining, fans can still get into the season ticket renewal incentive program and get a discount off of 2012-13 general rates by renewing prior to April 30th. Those current season ticket holders who do not renew prior to April 30th will still have until July 1st to purchase their ticket(s) at the upgraded 2012-13 prices before their seats are released. Ticket(s) must be purchased by the dates listed below to be entered into the final two drawings.
April 20-26: Two (2) tickets to the 2013 Men’s & Women’s Basketball Postseason Banquet
April 27-May 2: Autographed Basketball from 2012-13 Men’s & Women’s Basketball Teams
New season ticket holders are also encouraged to purchase now, as these orders will be filled in May based on a first-come, first-served basis.
Combined season tickets for both the men’s and women’s teams are available again for a combined 50 percent discount. Season tickets for either the men’s and women’s program range from $99-$279, while a combined season ticket (both teams) ranges from $149-$419 depending on the seat location and whether or not an individual is a renewal or new purchaser.
Tickets can be purchased in person at the Alico Arena ticket office or by phone at 239-590-7145. The FGCU ticket office is open from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. from Monday through Friday.
The women’s program is coming of the most historic season in its Division I history, advancing to the NCAA Tournament and earning a No. 12 seed in the Raleigh Region. Led by three-time Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year Karl Smesko, FGCU finished with a 29-3 overall record that included a league-first 18-0 mark in the A-Sun. The Eagles verified the conference’s third-ever unbeaten regular season by cruising through the Atlantic Sun Tournament, taking the league’s automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament with a convincing 67-39 win over second-seeded and 20-game winner Stetson.
On the men’s side, FGCU made a magical run to the Atlantic Sun championship game as the tournament’s No. 6 seed under first-year head coach Andy Enfield. The Eagles earned a spot in the conference postseason tournament in their first year of eligibility, defeating No. 3 seed USC Upstate in the quarterfinals before stunning No. 2 Mercer in front of its sold out home crowd. FGCU finished with a 15-17 overall record and was just the seventh team in the 33-year history of the A-Sun Tournament to make the championship in its first attempt.
