FGCU And ASUN Broadcasts Expand To Brand-New ESPN+ Digital Platform

BRISTOL, Conn. – On Thursday, Apr. 12, ESPN officials launched the new, subscription-based digital platform ESPN+ which will be the new home for select FGCU and ASUN game and event broadcasts.

ESPN+, which is separate from ESPN3, is housed within the new ESPN app, which also launched on Thursday with a fresh update. In conjunction with the ASUN's broadcasting contract with ESPN, 54 upcoming spring events – including six conference tournaments – will be streamed on ESPN+. Select games will continue to be streamed on ESPN+ during the 2018-19 season and foreseeable future, with FGCU officials having no control over the subscription or content decisions.

Yesterday began the first of a 30-day free trial of ESPN+, which will be followed by a subscription fee of just $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year, with the ability to cancel at any time. FGCU fans accustomed to watching the Eagles on ESPN3 will need to be ESPN+ subscribers in order to not miss any games.

ESPN officials will determine which games remain 'free' on ESPN3 and which become premium content to air on ESPN+. Regardless, all games can be accessed just as fans have done previously – by visiting the ESPN app or logging on to WatchESPN.com. Content which is exclusively on ESPN+ will be denoted by a yellow triangle with E+ in the top-left corner of the video thumbnail.

Upon clicking on an ESPN+ video for the first time, users will be prompted to 'Start My 30-Day Free Trial' and then can create an account and submit credit card information for their monthly or yearly subscription, which will be charged after the 30-day trial period concludes.

In addition to select FGCU and ASUN games airing on ESPN+, the subscription allows fans exclusive access to thousands of other live and on-demand content throughout the year from 20 college conferences across the country, in addition to professional leagues and international sports. ESPN+ offers a multitude of other features, including the ability to pause, rewind and start-from-the-beginning functionality for all live content – which is not an option on ESPN3.

For the entire list of content fans can expect to receive on ESPN+, and for much more information, clarity and answers to potential questions, read through the entire press release on ESPNMediaZone.com by clicking here.
