FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU softball team (20-23, 3-9 Atlantic Sun) concludes its seven-game home stand with a trio of contest against conference foe Jacksonville (22-20, 4-5 Atlantic Sun). The Green and Blue open up the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 11 with first pitched slated for 2 p.m. The series concludes on Sunday, Apr. 12 with first pitch at 2 p.m. Prior to the start of Sunday's game, FGCU will honor its seniors.
The Eagles will get their first look at Jacksonville this season. The Green and Blue won two of three games last year and hold a 14-3 all-time record against the Dolphins.
THE GREEN AND BLUESenior
Kelsey Carpenter (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty HS) leads the team in homeruns (5), hits (41), RBI (27), slugging percentage (.525), walks (17) and total bases (64). Freshman
Kelsey Huff (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Dwyer HS) has a team-high 28 runs, 20 stolen bases and a batting average of .350.
Junior
Ashley Dobson (Wheatfield, Ind./Kankakee Valley HS) leads the Eagles with a 3.03 ERA. Dobson has notched 10 wins, which is good for fifth most in the A-Sun, to lead the Green and Blue while adding a team-best 72 strikeouts.
Offensively, the team has held a combined batting average of .271 to go along with 146 RBI and 172 runs. In the circle, the Eagles have a combined ERA of 4.17 in 270.1 innings pitched and have a total of 164 strikeouts.
THE DOLPHINSAt the plate, Jacksonville is led by Victoria Brown who is batting .383 and slugging .713 through 41 games. Brown also adds a team-high nine homeruns, 44 hits, 32 runs batted in and 82 total bases. Emily Sanchez is the second threat in the Dolphins lineup with six homers and 26 RBI while batting .306.
Brown has also been the work horse in the circle, pitching 183 innings and compiling a 15-12 record with a 2.60 ERA. Taylor Rossman has also pitched 101 innings with a 7-7 record and an ERA of 2.63.
UP NEXTFGCU will travel to Kennesaw, Ga. to take on Kennesaw State for a three-game series. The conference matchup will begin with a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 18, with start times slated for 1 and 3 p.m. followed by a 1 p.m. game on Sunday, Apr. 19.

Hired in 2001 to build the program from the dirt up, Deiros has since guided the Eagles to 11 seasons with a winning record, eight campaigns with 35+ wins and a win percentage of .687 (509-234-3). The 2014 Eagles finished with a 33-26-1 and wins over SEC, Big 10, Big East, and ACC opponents. FGCU finished their season with an RPI ranking in the top-100 for the 3rd consecutive season and the 5th time in their seven years at Division I. Deiros is a former head coach at the 1998 Florida State Runner-up Lely High School in Naples and is the founding head coach of the 1999 District Champion/2001 Regional Runner-up Gulf Coast High School in Naples.
