Tsamas Earns Singles Win at Florida State Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Led by sophomore Dean Tsamas (Lexington, K.Y./Henry Clay HS) singles win, the FGCU men’s tennis team finished Day Two at the Florida State Invitational on Saturday night.

Tsamas earned his second win of the tournament after taking down Jacksonville’s Larry Condez, 6-3, 6-0. He has a 2-1 record in three matches at the tournament.

Redshirt junior Jackson Moore (Bradenton, Fla./Lakewood Ranch HS/Georgia State) lost a tough three-set match against Daniel Leitner from UAB, 6-7 (4-7), 6-4, 10-7. Moore won the first-set tiebreaker, 7-4, before dropping the final two sets. He lost a super tiebreaker 10-7 in the third-set.

Freshman Tianyu Bao (Bradenton, Fla./Bayshore HS) lost in straight sets to UAB’s Lucas Dirube, 6-4, 6-1, in the quarter-finals of the B draw.

FGCU’s three-day stint at the Florida State Invitational will conclude tomorrow in Tallahassee.
