FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men’s tennis team is set to host a pair of Atlantic Sun Conference duals at the FGCU Tennis Complex, as Belmont and Lipscomb travel to Fort Myers. The Eagles will take to the courts with the Bruins on Thursday at 1 p.m. and return for a dual with the Bisons on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
The Blue and Green head into the contests with a 2-11 (0-5 A-Sun) record and are coming off a loss to Samford, 7-0, at the FGCU Tennis Complex on Monday.
Competing for the Eagles will be seniors Steve Binninger (St. Augustine, Fla./Saint Joseph Academy), Carlo Checchia (Sao Paulo, Brazil/Ceteb/Coastal Carolina University), Mitchell Lvovsky (Dania Beach, Fla./Keystone HS/Wingate University) and Frank Aceirno (Palm Coast, Fla./Flagler Palm Coast HS), junior Matthew Rock (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Jacksonville University), sophomores Collin Brown (Tallahassee, Fla./Florida State University School) and Gabriel Echeverry (Popayan, Columbia/Gimnasio Calibio), as well as, freshman Dean Tsamas (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS).
Belmont comes to campus holding a 0-6 (0-3 A-Sun) record, while Lipscomb takes its 5-5 (2-1 A-Sun) record to Stetson on Thursday. Dropping their three conference matches, the Bruins fell to Kennesaw State, 5-2, Mercer, 4-2, and ETSU, 7-0. The Bisons' conference victories came against Kennesaw State, 5-2, and Mercer, 4-3, with their lone loss at ETSU, 6-1.
