Men's Tennis Picks Up First A-Sun Win

FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU men’s tennis team improved to 4-5 overall and 1-2 with their first Atlantic Sun win, a 4-3 decision over UNF. The Ospreys, who came into the match ranked #75 in the ITA rankings, fall to 7-5, 3-2.

FGCU won the doubles point, getting wins at the #1 and #2 positions. All three doubles ended in scores of 8-5. Brenton Bacon and Andrew Kam won at #1 while Danny Lee and Mikkell Mueller won at #2.

UNF won the top three singles matches, two that went to the third set. Eduardo Pereira downed Bacon 5-7, 7-6, 6-3 while Yuiti Lopes won 7-6, 6-7, 10-8 over Mikkel Muller. Ervin Garibovic and Lee each won in straight sets while Edson Lima won at #6 in three sets.

The Eagles will be back in action again on March 16 when they host Colgate at 1:00 pm.
