Men's Tennis Wins 10th Straight Match

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The No. 19 Florida Gulf Coast University men’s tennis team rolled past the University of Illinois-Chicago 7-2 Saturday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The Eagles (11-1) have now won 10 straight matches. The Flames fall to 3-6. FGCU won two of the three doubles matches and six of seven singles matches. Doubles winners included seniors Juan Carlos Osorio (Quito, Ecuador) and Tim Offerman (Hamburg, Germany) in the first position and freshmen Edson Lima (Brasilia, Brazil) and Danny Lee (Naples, Fla.) in the third position. Osorio, Offerman, Lee and Lima were repeat winners in singles play. Lima picked up his win at No. 5 singles to set a new FGCU freshman record with his 11th victory of the year. Freshmen Brad Henderson (Lithia, Fla.) improved to 4-0 with a win at No. 6 singles. The Eagles will host Saint Leo University tomorrow afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex.
