No. 19 Men's Team Upends the University of Indianapolis

FORT MYERS , Fla. – The No. 19 Florida Gulf Coast University men’s tennis team dominated the University of Indianapolis with an 8-1 win on Wednesday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The Eagles did not lose a singles match and are now 10-1 on the season. Senior Juan Carlos Osorio (Quito, Ecuador), the No. 3 ranked singles player in Division II, continued his nine-match unbeaten streak with a win over Indianapolis’s Jan Stastny at #1 singles. Osorio and his partner, senior Tim Offerman (Hamburg, Germany), were also victorious in #1 doubles. The pair improved their doubles record to 9-1 this year. The only loss of the day came in #2 doubles play as junior Alberto Gutierrez (Bogota, Columbia) and sophomore Gavin Manders (Warwick, Bermuda) lost a hard fought battle to University of Indianapolis’s Alan Dowell and Joshua Greenlee by a score of 8-6. Other singles winners for FGCU included: Offerman at #2, Manders at #3, freshmen Danny Lee (Naples, FL) at #4, Edson Lima (Brasilia, Brazil) at #5, and Brad Henderson (Lithia, FL) at #6. The University of Illinois-Chicago come to Fort Myers Saturday to take on the Eagles in a 3:00 pm match.
