FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 12th ranked Florida Gulf Coast University men’s tennis handled Florida Tech 8-1 Sunday afternoon at the FGCU Tennis Complex. The Eagles (17-3) swept the doubles matches and the first five singles matches for their ninth win in the last 10 matches. Five players recorded a pair of wins for FGCU. Juniors Juan Carlos Osorio and Tim Offerman teamed up for their 15th win at No. 2 doubles, 8-0, and then came through with victories at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Osorio extended his unbeaten streak to a school-record 17 consecutive matches with a two-set win in singles play. FGCU sophomore Alberto Gutierrez and freshman Gavin Manders picked up an 8-1 win at No. 3 doubles before recording singles victories at the No. 4 and No. 6 positions. Senior Richard Stempnowski was the other double winner for the Eagles, teaming with senior Jose Pastrello for a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 doubles, and then winning his single-season record 18th match of the spring.
