FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men’s soccer team (8-6-2, 6-1-1 Atlantic Sun), fresh off claiming a fourth-consecutive A-Sun regular-season title, is set to host the 2013 edition of the A-Sun Men’s Soccer Championship at the FGCU Soccer Complex Nov. 13-17. The Eagles have won each of the last two tournament championships.
The quarterfinal matches on Wednesday, Nov. 13, will begin with No. 3-seed Lipscomb taking on No. 6-seed Jacksonville at 4 p.m. followed by No. 4 seed Mercer matching up with No. 5 seed North Florida at 7 p.m. Both games will be streamed live on A-Sun TV.
FGCU and ETSU received the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds, respectively, and will await the results of the quarterfinal matches to determine opponents for the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 15. ETSU will play the first semifinal at 4 p.m. against either Lipscomb or Jacksonville. FGCU awaits the winner of the Mercer/UNF match and will play at 7 p.m. on Friday. Once again both games will be streamed live on A-Sun TV.
The advancing teams will play for the championship on Sunday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. The match will be featured on ESPN3, ESPN’s live multi-screen sports network accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the WatchESPN app, and streamed on televisions through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members and on Apple TV.
Any student of an A-Sun institution will be admitted for free with a valid university I.D. FGCU faculty and staff will be admitted for free as well. Youth ages 14 and under will be admitted for free if they are wearing a soccer jersey or green or blue. Youth tickets will cost $3 while adult tickets will be $6.
