Immokalee. Fla. - Wearing aprons instead of cleats, the FGCU men’s soccer team worked with the Guadalupe Center of Immokalee to serve the community of Immokalee on November 21. The team served hot soup to over 200 people and helped sort and organize hundreds of donations before the Thanksgiving holiday. Every half hour hungry men, women and children lined up at the door for what was potentially their only meal of the day.

The Guadalupe Center of Immokalee soup kitchen has served more than one million hot meals to needy families since it opened its doors in the early 1980s. Today the soup kitchen serves over 75,000 hot lunches a year five days a week with the help of more than 150 volunteers.

Next week the team will be volunteering with the Salvation Army Toys for Tots program.
