Eagles Shutout Owls in Season Finale

FORT MYERS, Fla. - The Florida Gulf Coast University men's soccer team finished the 2008 campaign on a winning note by defeating FAU on Saturday night by the score of 2-0.

FGCU improves to 6-10-2 overall, while the Owls fall to 5-12-1 overall.

FGCU scored first to take an early 1-0 lead and never looked back. In the 30th minute, Pedro Cavalcanti (Key Biscayne, Fla.) flipped a pass over the FAU defense and found Francesco DiStefano (Kissimee, Fla.), who knocked a header past the keeper and into the back of the net to put FGCU up 1-0. The Eagles added their second goal of the game in the 58th minute when DiStefano found Scott Harrison (Cocoa, Fla.) in front of the net to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

FGCU starting keeper Adam Glick (Leola, Pa.) recorded six saves in goal for the Eagles and registered his fourth shutout of the season. FAU outshot FGCU 8-7.
