FORT MYERS, Fla. - The FGCU Men’s Soccer Winter Camp was a complete success in its inaugural year. Over 80 campers turned out for this year’s camp, ranging in age from 8-18.
The Future Stars and Junior Premier Academy groups met early in the day from 9-2 pm. The High School Elite Academy trained in the evenings from 5-8 pm. The early group spent a lot of time with the balls at their feet, and always finished the day with a spirited game. The older players put in a lot of effort and impressed the staff with their competitiveness.
Two groups from the Immokalee area were also a part of the camp. A group of 7th and 8th graders from Scouts FC bussed out to FGCU in the morning and a group from the Immokalee area attended in the evenings. The staff would like to thank One by One Leadership Foundation of Southwest Florida for sponsoring these groups, as well as Manny Touron for all of his energy in organizing the effort.
"Our boys had great coaching by a very competent FGCU coaching staff,” said Touron. “The instruction developed team concept and individual skills. The most important thing was that the boys couldn't wait to the next day. They had fun in a very positive learning environment. Our hats off to all the coaches at FGCU."
The FGCU men’s soccer staff will hold overnight and day camps throughout the summer. Stay tuned to www.fgcusoccercamps.com for details.
