A Look Back: Inaugural Season of FGCU Men's Soccer
FORT MYERS, Fla. - The inaugural FGCU men’s soccer season will forever be remembered in FGCU Athletics history. The Eagles finished their inaugural campaign with an 8-10-1 overall record, including wins over Coastal Carolina and UNLV. FGCU also earn a tie with A-Sun preseason favorite and eventual A-Sun Champion, Campbell.
Below are a few highlights from the 2007 season:
The FGCU Eagles finished tied-fifth in the A-Sun with a 3-5-1 conference record.
The Eagles ended the season ranked near the top in many statistical categories:
Tied-3rd – Saves (51) *Conference Games Only
4th – Points (68)
4th – Goals Per Game (1.32 gpg)
5th – Goals (25)
Tied-5th – Assists (18), Assists Per Game (0.95), Shutouts (4)
Notes From During the Season
A Day of Firsts: Only once can a team score the first-ever goal, the first-ever assist or record the first-ever save in program history and for Florida Gulf Coast that day was August 31st, when the Eagles opened their inaugural season at the CCU/Adidas Invitational.
First Goal: Jonathan Koshko (penalty kick vs Coastal Carolina)
First Assist: Trent Anderson (on a goal by Colin Gill vs Coastal Carolina)
First Game-Winning Goal: Anthony Forde (on a 2-on-1 break vs. Coastal Carolina)
First Save: Adam Glick (at the 44:18 mark vs. Coastal Carolina)

Eagles Soar to Programs First Victory: Florida Gulf Coast’s first-ever men’s soccer game was a winning one. The Eagles rallied from an early deficit against Coastal Carolina for a 3-2 victory. Trent Anderson came off the bench and assisted both of FGCU’s second-half goals.
Making ‘Em Pay: Jonathan Koshko finished the season 2-for-2 on penalty kicks (first goal off a penalty kick came against Coastal Carolina on Aug. 31).
Solid in Goal: FGCU goalkeeper Adam Glick registered his 3rd career shutout against UNF on Sunday, Oct. 14. Glick, as of Oct. 16, is tied-2nd in the A-Sun in shutouts.
When the Game is on the Line: Against UNF on Oct. 14, Anthony Forde knocked in a header to record his team-leading fifth goal and the eventual game-winner in the game’s 24th minute off of a corner kick from Matthew Piccoli.
On Aug. 31 vs. Coastal Carolina Forde hit his first game-winner. This time he beat the CCU keeper in the 73rd minute to give the Eagles a 3-2 victory.
Forde and Glick Earn A-Sun All-Freshman Honors: Freshmen Adam Glick and Anthony Forde have been named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team the conference office announced on Nov. 13.
Glick (Leola, Pa.) started all 19 of FGCU’s games this season and was a catalyst for the Eagles on defense. Glick was named A-Sun Player of the Week two times during the regular season, while earning eight wins in goal, tallying four shutouts and posting 86 saves during the season. Glick’s saves and shutout totals ranked him third in the A-Sun in both categories.
Forde (Odessa, Fla.) joins Glick on the All-Freshman Team. Forde started in 17 games for the Eagles this season and played a big part in FGCU’s offensive attack. Forde ended the season ranking first on the team in points (13), goals (6), shots on goal (16) and game-winning goals (tied-2). Forde’s six goals ranked him eighth in the A-Sun this year.
