Fort Myers, Fla. - Adam Glick (Leola, Pa.) recorded 13 saves in the Eagles 2-2 double-overtime draw Thursday night against the Atlantic Sun Preseason favorite, Campbell Camels. The game was FGCU's first Atlantic Sun Conference game of the season. The Eagles improve to 3-4-1 while the Camels move to 4-2-1.
The Eagles got on the board first in the 32nd minute as Jonathan Koshko (Tampa, Fla.) scored on a free kick. Koshko's free kick sailed over the defense and found the bottom right corner of the goal.
Koshko's goal would prove to be the lone goal of the period as the Eagles took a 1-0 lead into halftime. Despite having the lead at half, the Eagles had less shots and corner kicks than the Camels at halftime.
In the second period, Anthony Forde (Odessa, Fla.) would add to FGCU's lead by scoring a goal in the 58th minute. Forde stole the ball from a Campbell player, split two defenders and outran the Camel defense before blasting a shot past the diving Campbell goalkeeper and into the bottom right corner of the goal.
Down 2-0 the Camels mounted a comeback as Josue Soto and Josh Elliot netted goals less than five minutes apart to tie the game at 2-2. Soto's goal came in the 64th minute off of a corner kick, while Elliot scored his goal in the 69th minute off of a rebound.
Both teams made runs during the final 25 minutes of regulation and both overtime periods, but neither team was able to find a way to end the game with a goal.
Chris DiNapoli (Palm Harbor, Fla.) led the Eagles with two shots on goal.
Adam Glick logged 110 minues between the pipes and recorded a season-high 13 saves, while allowing two goals.
FGCU was outshot 21-10 and lost the corner kick battle 6-3.
The Eagles will look to get their first A-Sun conference win Saturday night when they host the Mercer Bears. The game will be played at the FGCU Soccer Field and is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
