Men's Soccer Set for FAU Classic

Fort Myers, Fla. – The FGCU Men’s Soccer team heads to Boca Raton, Florida this weekend for the FAU Classic. The Eagles are off to a good start in their inaugural season, defeating UNLV in their first home match last Friday 2-1, bringing their record to 2-1-0. Goalkeeper Adam Glick was named Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week after recording six saves in the win over UNLV.

FGCU opens the tournament at 5 pm on Friday against the Panthers of Georgia State. Georgia State comes into the tournament with a 1-1-1 record after defeating Lipscomb 4-3 on Sunday. They are led by senior midfielder Floreal Pedrazo who leads the team in every offensive category (2 G, 1 A, 5 Pts,10 Shots, 5 SOG).

On Sunday the Eagles will take on Iona at 11 am. The Gaels come into the tournament with a record of 1-3-0. They went 0-2 at the UMBC Adidas Kickoff Classic, losing 2-1 to Navy and 1-0 to host Maryland-Baltimore County. Senior midfielder Paul Racines leads the team in every offensive category (1 G,1 A, 3 Pts, 11 Shots, 4 SOG).

Next weekend the Eagles will return home to host their inaugural tournament, the Embassy Suites Kick-Off Classic. FGCU will take on Navy and Illinois-Chicago.
