DUNK CITY, Fla. – The highly-anticipated 2013-14 FGCU men’s basketball season tips off Friday night in primetime as the Eagles travel to Nebraska for a 9 p.m. matchup with the Cornhuskers which will be shown nationally on the Big Ten Network. In addition, two separate watch parties near campus have been set up for fans in SWFL to catch all the high-flying action of #DunkCity.
Tom Hamilton, the radio play-by-play voice of the Cleveland Indians, will have the call on the Big Ten Network, with Jim Jackson serving as the analyst. The Big Ten Network is available on Comcast XFINITY in Southwest Florida on channel 472 in HD and 742 in standard definition, DirectTV on channel 610 and on the DISH Network on channel 439.
The Big Ten Network is available nationwide on many all-sports packages. Fans who do not have the Big Ten Network can call their cable operator to have it added to their lineup. Those with Comcast XFINITY receive the Big Ten Network in standard definition as part of Digital Starter package, while those with the Digital Preferred or Digital Premier packages receive the network in HD. Watch parties will take place at Beef ‘O’ Brady’s in Estero and Miller’s Ale House in Gulf Coast Town Center. Fans are encouraged to attend following the completion of the women’s soccer team’s Atlantic Sun Conference Championship semifinal match against Mercer at 7 p.m. at the FGCU Soccer Complex.
Beef ‘O’ Brady’s will be offering $2 off food for FGCU Dirty Bird members, while Miller’s will be offering 10 percent off food for the Dirty Birds. Members are asked to show their Dirty Bird ID at the establishments to receive their discount.
Following the opener at Nebraska, FGCU returns to action for another highly-anticipated and nearly sold-out home opener on Tuesday morning. The game versus Hartford – dubbed Breakfast at the Beach – will tip at 7 a.m. and be broadcast to the country on ESPN2 as part of ESPN’s 24-Hour Tipoff Marathon.
