FORT MYERS, Fla. – Fans will get a chance to watch the FGCU men’s basketball team on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) when the Eagles travel to Nashville, Tenn. to square off against the Atlantic Sun’s top team the Belmont Bruins on Friday at 7 p.m. ET at the Curb Event Center.
FGCU’s game against Belmont will be the CSS Game of the Week, continuing a stretch of nine consecutive seasons that the A-Sun has been featured on the station. CSS can be found on channel 70 for Comcast subscribers in Southwest Florida. For those outside the market, the game can also be watched on ESPN3.com, but is subject to blackout.
Matt Stewart (play-by-play) and Sonny Smith (color analyst) will have the call. The CSS A-Sun Game of the Week highlights the conference’s television package and features some of the league’s top rivalries in its lineup.
The last time the Blue and Green visited the Curb Center on Jan. 2, 2010, FGCU handed Belmont its first conference loss of the season with a 66-63 victory behind three double-digit scorers. FGCU led for majority of the game, holding an eight-point advantage several time throughout the game.
The two teams met earlier this season at Alico Arena, as the Bruins used a big second half to defeat the Eagles, 83-51.
FGCU (5-13, 2-7) enters Friday’s tilt on a two-game win streak after pulling out a thrilling 111-103 triple-overtime win at Stetson on Tuesday night. The 111 points scored are the most in the program’s four-year Division I history and the third-most all-time.
Belmont (18-4, 10-1 A-Sun), the defending Atlantic Sun co-champ, is among those receiving votes in the Associated Press and ESPN/USA Today Coaches' Top 25 polls and is 10-1 in conference action.
