FORT MYERS, Fla. – FGCU men’s basketball coach Dave Balza announced that senior guard Reed Baker (Naples, Fla./Bishop Verot HS/Michigan) resigned from the program on Monday and will not return for the rest of the 2010-11 season.

“We want to thank Reed for his numerous contributions to our program and the University,” said Balza. “He has been an integral part of our FGCU basketball family for the past four years and it’s unfortunate that he has decided not to finish the season. We will miss him and wish him the best in the future.”

Baker started 14 games this season and was the team’s second-leading scorer at 14.4 points per game. The Naples, Fla. product scored 949 points over 74 career games in the blue and green, finishing in double figures 45 times. Baker led the Atlantic Sun in free throw percentage in each of his two previous seasons.
