FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men’s basketball team’s non-conference clash with No. 2 Ohio State on Wednesday night will be televised live on the Big Ten Network beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Fans in Southwest Florida can tune into the Big Ten Network on channel 610 for DirecTV subscribers and channel 742 for Comcast users.
The Big Ten Network’s Tom Hamilton will provide the play-by-play live from Value City Arena, while Tony White will be the analyst. Hamilton called FGCU’s season opener at Indiana, which was also televised on the Big Ten Network.
FGCU (2-5) returns from its 11-day break from game action on Wednesday night against the Buckeyes who are ranked No. 2 in both the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Top 25 poll and the Associated Press Top 25 poll. The Eagles hope the debut of Ole Miss transfer Kevin Cantinol (6-9, 253 lbs) will help it snap its four-game losing streak, as it faces a Big Ten team ranked No. 2 in the nation for the second straight year. Last season, the Eagles opened at No. 2 Michigan State.
The combination of Cantinol and redshirt sophomore Anthony Banks (Lantana, Fla./Santaluces HS), who is averaging over 19 points and 10 rebounds his last three games, will look to stop one of the premier freshman in the country in OSU big man Jared Sullinger. Already a two-time Big Ten Player of the Week, Sullinger has helped the Buckeyes jump out to a 8-0 start by averaging 18 points and 9.3 rebounds per game, highlighted by an OSU freshman record 40 points IUPUI.

The Eagles will continue their two-game swing through Ohio on Saturday, Dec. 18 when they take on Toledo at 7:00 p.m. at Savage Arena. Fans can listen to the game for free on www.FGCUAthletics.com through the service of Stretch Internet. Voice of the Eagles Tom James will have the call.
