FORT MYERS, Fla. –
The FGCU men’s basketball coaching staff will hold a free coaches clinic on Saturday, October 23 at Alico Arena that will run from 12:00-4:30 p.m., announced by head coach Dave Balza on Tuesday.
The day will begin with a coaches’ social hour in the Alico Arena VIP Suite beginning at noon before the men’s team takes the court from 1-4 p.m., giving coaches a look at a full Division I practice. Immediately following the three-hour practice, coaches will get a chance to ask questions.
Coaches interested in attending the clinic can RSVP by calling FGCU men’s basketball video coordinator Darrin Wallace at 239-590-7067 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no cost to the clinic or the social hour.
The 2010-11 version of the Eagles welcome back nine players, including their top two leading scorers from last season in redshirt sophomore Anthony Banks (12.9 ppg) and senior Reed Baker (11.4 ppg). Banks led the team in scoring and rebounding (6.6) in 2009-10 en route to being named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshmen team. Just the fourth player to ever lead the A-Sun in free throw percentage in back-to-back seasons, Baker reached double figures 17 times in 2009-10.
FGCU also ushers in an incoming class that was ranked in the top three of the Atlantic Sun by Hoop Scoop Online for the second consecutive year. This year’s seven-member class was ranked second in the 11-team A-Sun Conference despite Ole Miss transfer Kevin Cantinol not being included in the rankings. The 6-foot-9, 253-lb. forward is eligible to play after the first semester of classes.
Season tickets for the 2010-11 season are currently available while single-game tickets can be purchased through the FGCU Ticket Office in Alico Arena either in person or by phone at (239) 590-7145 beginning on Nov. 1. Tickets are also available at www.FGCUathletics.com/tickets.
