ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Delvin Franklin and Reed Baker combined to score 35 points as the Eagles fell to No.24 Michigan, 76-59, Monday night at Crisler Arena.
With the win, the Wolverines improves to 9-2 overall, while the Eagles fall to 4-8 on the season.
Michigan jumped on the Eagles early in the first half as FGCU was able to get open shots, but were unable to get anything to fall. No. 24 Michigan took a 39-18 lead into the intermission.
FGCU scored the first five points coming out of the intermission before U-M went on a 10-2 run to push the lead to 49-25. The U-M run was answered by an 11-2 burst from FGCU to cut the advantage back to 53-38 with 8:24 left in the second half.
The Eagles continued to mount a comeback, trimming the Michigan lead to just eight, 57-49, with 5:11 to play, but Michigan outscored FGCU 19-10 over the final five minutes, and won the game by the final score.
Following a week off, the Eagles will return to action next Tuesday, December 30 when they host Army at Alico Arena. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
