FORT MYERS, Fla., - FGCU’s men’s basketball team hosts UNF in the final home game of the year. It will be the final home game for seven FGCU seniors. FGCU comes in with a 9-19 overall record and 5-10 in the A-Sun while UNF is 3-24 and 1-14 in the league.
The Ospreys endured a 20-game losing streak earlier this season and are currently riding a 44-game losing streak on the road. UNF has won two of their last five games including a 70-61 win against Mercer. Stan Januska led the team with 18 points in that game while James Grimball added 11 rebounds. Tom Hammonds leads the team in scoring averaging 12.4 points per game while Januska is chipping in 10.7 per outing. Grimball has grabbed a team-high 173 rebounds on the season.
For FGCU, it will be the final home game for seniors Yavney Neptune (Port Charlotte), Casey Wohlleb (Boca Raton, Fla.), Adam Liddell, (Auburn, Ind.), Roman Narmbaye (Chad, Africa) Rob Quaintance (Glendale, Az.), Terike Barrowes (Pompano Beach, Fla.) and Casey Pond (Gurnee, Ill.). Neptune is the second player to suit up for four years for FGCU while Wohlleb became the second to top 1,000 career points. Liddell became the school’s all-time leading rebounder last season. The group will be honored before the game.
FGCU is looking to close out the home season with a win for the fifth time in the six years of the program. FGCU also has a chance to finish seventh in the league in its first year as a Division I program. FGCU was selected by league coaches to finish 11th in the preseason poll.
The game is the second of a doubleheader with the women’s team also hosting UNF on senior day. Both games will be available live on ASun.TV.
