BOILING SPRINGS, N.C., - FGCU built a 43-28 lead at halftime and pulled out an 87-80 win over Gardner-Webb. With the win, FGCU improves to 9-13 overall and 4-3 in the A-Sun while Gardner-Webb falls to 9-12, 3-4 with the loss.
For the Eagles, it is their third consecutive A-Sun win. The Eagles shot over 50.0% for the fourth time in conference play this season, all four were wins. The Eagles have now won three of four on the road in conference play after sweeping their trip through North Carolina.
FGCU was able to hold off GWU in the second half, maintaining a lead of at least eight until the closing seconds of the game. GWU shot 50% in the second half, but only shot 42.4% for the game.
Nate Blank led GWU with 25 points while Thomas Sanders poured in 18 points and 14 rebounds for his league-leading 12th double-double. Grayson Flittner added 15 points and nine assists in the loss.
Delvin Franklin and Terieke Barrowes each contributed career-highs for the Eagles. Franklin scored 25 points, drilling 4-of-9 from outside while Barrowes scored 15 and pulled down seven boards. Casey Wohlleb scored 22 points for the Eagles and Landon Adler added 12 off the bench. Yavney Neptune added a season-high eight points and team-high seven rebounds.
