FORT MYERS, Fla., - FGCU begins its first on nine straight games away from Alico Arena on Sunday afternoon. The Eagles travel to Iowa City, Iowa, to face the Hawkeyes at 2:00 pm in Hawkeye-Carver Arena.
The game is the first round of the South Padre Island Invitational, an eight team tournament that begins at campus sites and concludes in South Padre Island, Texas. The Eagles will also face Bradley, Austin Peay and either Valparaiso or Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Iowa is currently 2-0 on the year home wins over Iowa State and Northern Colorado. Jeff Peterson leads the team in scoring at 16.0 points per game while Justin Johnson averages 12.0 per contest. Kurt Looby paces the Hawkeyes in rebounding at 8.5 boards per game.
The Eagles also have a pair of players averaging double figures in Casey Wohlleb and Landon Adler. Wohlleb (Boca Raton, Fla.) leads the team with a 13.5 average while Adler (Decatur, Ind.) adds 13.0 per game and a team best 9.0 rebounds per contest.
The Eagles will be in action again when they face Bradley on Tuesday in Peoria, Ill. At 7:05pm.
