FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU men’s basketball team begins its adventure into NCAA Division I tomorrow night when they travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., to face Bethune-Cookman at 7:00 pm. Tonight's game can be followed on gametracker here or fans can listen live on Sports Radio 770 as Dave Moulton calls the action.

The Eagles return four starters from last season’s 27-6 team which won 19 of its last 20 games. The lone loss was a 14 point defeat at Butler, who ended their season in the NCAA Sweet 16. FGCU returns three players who averaged double figures in scoring. Adam Liddell (Auburn, Ind.) leads the group with his 11.4 points per game average and is the only player returning who started all 33 games last season. Liddell enters the season as the all-time leader in blocks and rebounds. Casey Wohlleb (Boca Raton, Fla.) and Landon Adler (Decatur, Ind.) are the other players who averaged double figures in scoring at 11.1 and 10.7 respectively.

The Eagles knocked off St. Thomas 98-77 in their lone exhibition of the season. Wohlleb led all players with 23 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor. Liddell added 16 points to go with nine boards and five assists. The Eagles outrebounded the Bobcats 50-26 in the game.

FGCU faces a Bethune-Cookman squad that dropped its season opener to Warner Southern 65-59 on Saturday night. John Homes paced the Wildcats with 23 points while Jimmy Hudson added 10 points and six boards.

This is the first time the two teams have met during the regular season. FGCU knocked off BCC on 11/14/05 in an exhibition. Yavney Neptune (Port Charlotte, Fla.) scored seven points for the Eagles. Wohlleb added six and Adam Liddell also appeared in that contest. Kevan Creppy and Jordan Carrier were the only current Wildcats to see action in the contest.

The Eagles will host Drexel on Wednesday in their home opener. The Dragons advanced to the post-season for the fourth time in five years last season, posting a 23-9 record. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 pm at Alico Arena.
