FORT MYERS, Fla. - Florida Gulf Coast University Head Basketball Coach Dave Balza announces the signing of Delvin Franklin, a 6-1 guard who transfers from Lamar Community College.
Franklin, originally from Houston, Texas, was the second leading scorer at 12.6 points per game on the Runnin' Lopes last season as a sophomore. He did most of his damage from beyond the arc, draining 75 trey's while shooting 47% from long range. Franklin also shot 84% from the charity stripe and recorded 43 steals during his sophomore season.
As a freshman at Seminole State, Franklin shot 58% from the floor and 50% from downtown while appearing in 19 games.
Balza expects Franklin to come in and compete for a spot in the starting lineup.
The Eagles are entering their first season as a member of NCAA Division I and the Atlantic Sun Conference. FGCU returns eight letterwinners and four starters from last season's 27-6 team.
