“Ask not what your teammates can do for you. Ask what can you do for your teammates.” – Earvin “Magic” Johnson

With that said – as Sherwood Brown goes, so goes Florida Gulf Coast.

Consider the 6-foot-4 senior shooting guard’s stat line when he led FGCU to a thrilling victory over Jacksonville recently – 20 pts, nine rebounds, three assists, and 4-6 from 3-point range, all in 37 minutes played.

Not only does Brown keep FGCU’s backcourt calm, but he crashes the lane and gets around the rim just with the same frequency as forwards Eric McKnight and high-flying Chase Fieler. Brown, who leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, fills the stat sheet in every manner possible in nearly 34 minutes per game. Perhaps most frightening for opponents is that his game is still improving.

“I’m just starting to learn how to score without the basketball in my hands,” Brown said. “This is one of my individual goals, which I hope will better our team.”
