Vs. Alcorn St.: First Meeting

FGCU will tip-off its home tournament that is part of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Wednesday night when it takes on Alcorn State in the first round. Toledo and Samford will be play in the day's first game with the winner's from the two games squaring off Thanksgiving night at 7 p.m. The winner of the four-team tournament will receive an automatic invitation into the 2016 Battle 4 Atlantis played in the Bahamas. The losers from the first day will play Thursday's first game at 4:30 P.M.

FGCU's Sunday night ESPNU game at No. 9 Duke tipped-off a stretch of four games in six days for FGCU, who currently sits at 2-2 after opening with one of the toughest schedules in the country that featured three teams that received at least one vote in the Top 25. Despite playing a loaded schedule over the first 10 days of the season, FGCU is third in the A-Sun in scoring (68.2) and second in field goal percentage defense (.387). Under head coach ANDY ENFIELD, the Eagles are 11-5 at Alico Arena.

After a 2-1 week that was highlighted by a 63-51 win over ACC foe Miami in front of an Alico Arena record sellout crowd of 4,502 fans, sophomores BERNARD THOMPSON and ERIC MCKNIGHT took home both of the A-Sun's weekly awards on Tuesday. Thompson, who averaged 16.0 points and 3.3 steals per game during the three-game week, turned in a career performance at No. 9 Duke with 24 points, six rebounds and five steals en route to being named A-Sun Player of the Week. McKnight's week was boosted by his team-highs of 14 points and eight rebounds in the win over Miami, which was his debut in front of the FGCU faithful at Alico Arena. A transfer from Big XII member Iowa State, McKnight earned the A-Sun Newcomer of the Week award.
