FORT MYERS, Fla. – Following Tuesday’s final practice session, the FGCU men’s basketball players and staff will pack their bags for an early Wednesday morning flight to the Bahamas for a three-game foreign trip against international professional competition in the city of Nassau.

FGCU begins its three games in three days schedule against the Commonwealth Bank Giants on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.

In preparation for the foreign tour, which is only allowed once every four years, FGCU held team practices for nine days leading up to the trip. The Eagles began a string of eight practices in nine days on Monday, July 30 at Alico Arena.

FGCU, who returns all five starters off last year’s squad that won a program Division I record 15 games (15-17), will take on the Mailbot Cybots on August 9, at 7 p.m. and will conclude the three-game swing against the Grand Bahamas All-Stars on Aug. 10, at 7 p.m. All three games will be played at Kendal Issacs Gymnasium in Nassau, a 2,500-seat arena in the Queen Elizabeth Sports Center.

Fans and media can follow the Eagles in the Bahamas through several social media outlets. Live in-game updates will be available on twitter, recaps and postgame interviews on www.FGCUATHLETICS.com, while pictures will also be available on twitter and the team’s Instagram and Facebook pages. FGCU returns 85 percent of its scoring, 84 percent of its rebounding and 92 percent of its assists from the 2011-12 squad that won a program Division I record 15 games and advanced to the A-Sun championship as the No. 6 seed by defeating No. 3 seed USC Upstate and No. 2 seed and host Mercer.
