FORT MYERS, Fla. – The FGCU men’s and women’s basketball teams will travel away from the friendly confines of Alico Arena for the opening weekend of Atlantic Sun play, but fans can listen live as all four games will be broadcast live on www.FGCUAthletics.com.

The games can be heard for free on the FGCU athletics website by clicking on the Live Audio button on the front page. Every home basketball contest (men and women) during the 2010-11 season can be heard live, while select road contests will be announced. FGCU online broadcasts are powered by Stretch Internet.

Both teams will open the road swing at North Florida on Thursday, Dec. 2, beginning with the women’s game at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men’s contest that has a tentative start time of 7:45 p.m. J.P. Shadrick will be provide the play-by-play.

Two days later, the teams will be a part of a doubleheader at Jacksonville that will tip-off at 1 p.m. on Saturday with the women. The men will then take on the two-time defending regular season champion Dolphins at 3:15 p.m. Voice of the Eagles and FGCU Sports Report host Tom James will have the call from Veterans Memorial Arena.

Off to their best start since joining the Division I ranks in 2007-08, the FGCU women sit at 4-0 with wins over BCS foes Seton Hall and Virginia Tech. The Eagles are coming off a successful trip to Cancun in which they picked up wins over the previously mentioned Hokies and 17-time Big Sky champ Montana. Led by senior Shannon Murphy (Brighton, Mich./Brighton HS) and freshman Sarah Hansen (Edinboro, Pa./General McLean HS), who both won conference weekly awards on Tuesday, FGCU will look to improve on its 1-2 record in A-Sun openers.

The FGCU men are coming off a gutsy 87-75 loss against ACC foe Miami last Saturday in which both senior Reed Baker (Naples, Fla./Bishop Verot HS/Michigan) and redshirt sophomore Anthony Banks (Lantana, Fla./Santaluces HS) reached the 20-point plateau. The Eagles sit at 2-3 on the young season and will look to improve to 3-1 in A-Sun openers. Baker leads the team and ranks second in the conference in scoring at 19.4 points per game.
