Trio Of FGCU Men's Basketball Games To Be Televised
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Besides coming to Alico Arena for 14 home games, fans will get a chance to watch the FGCU men’s basketball team away from sunny Fort Myers when a trio of road contests are televised during the 2010-11 campaign.
FGCU’s TV slate will include a pair of games on the Big Ten Network when it opens the season at Indiana on Friday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. and when it travels to Columbus, Ohio to take on preseason top five Ohio State on Dec. 15.
Fans in Southwest Florida can tune in to channel 610 through DirecTV for the two games on the Big Ten Network and channel 742 on Comcast.
The final TV game will appear on Comcast/Charter Sports Southeast (CSS) on Jan. 28 when the Eagles travel to defending Atlantic Sun co-champ Belmont. FGCU’s game against the Bruins will be the CSS Game of the Week, continuing a stretch of nine consecutive years that the A-Sun has been featured on the station. CSS can be found on channel 70 for Comcast subscribers in Southwest Florida.
Matt Stewart and Sonny Smith return as the voices for the broadcasts. The CSS A-Sun Game of the Week highlights the conference’s television package with additional matchups featuring some of the league’s top rivalries are expected to be added to the lineup.
CSS will carry five games of the 2011 General Shale Brick Atlantic Sun Basketball Championships from Mercer’s University Center. Like it has since the men’s and women’s merged into a single event, CSS will provide wall-to-wall action of Semifinal Friday, airing all four contests on March 4. The women’s semifinals air at noon and 2:30 p.m. with the men’s games set for 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The women’s title game on Saturday, March 5 concludes the CSS schedule of games.
