FORT MYERS, Fla., - Florida Gulf Coast University men’s basketball team is traveling to Nashville, Tenn., this weekend to try to win their third straight road game in the Atlantic Sun Conference, facing the Belmont Bruins. The Bruins go into Saturday night’s game with a record of 14-8 and 6-2 in conference play, which is second in the league. FGCU comes into the contest 8-14 and 4-4 in the A-Sun.

Belmont is coming off a strong road win against Stetson Thursday night in a hard fought battle beating Stetson 83-75. The Bruins guard Justin Hare led all scorers with 20 points and guard Andy Wicke pitched in 15 to help their team to victory. Belmont shot 57% from the field despite only shooting 5-19 behind the arc. Belmont leads the league in three-point shooting, knocking down 10.8 treys per game.

The Eagles faced a tough Lipscomb team Thursday evening suffering a 70-56 loss, snapping a three game conference winning streak. Junior Forward Landon Adler (Decatur, Ind.) led the way for the Eagles by recording his sixth double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Junior guard Delvin Franklin (Houston, Texas) tallied 12 points on 4-8 shooting. FGCU’s 3-1 mark on the road in league games is the second best in the A-Sun this season.

Saturday night would be a big win for the Eagles if they can knock off Belmont who has won the league in each of the last two seasons. To do so FGCU has to stop the Bruins transition offense and not allow easy buckets.

The game will tip-off at approximately 8:15 pm and can be seen live on the A-Sun website. The game is the second of a double-header with the FGCU women’s team visiting the Bruins with tip-off scheduled for 6:00 pm.
