Men's Hoops Return Home to Face #16 Butler

FORT MYERS, Fla., - The FGCU men’s basketball team returns to Alico Arena for the first time in 37 days to face the highest ranked team an Atlantic Sun team has ever hosted on Saturday night.

The Eagles hosted Drexel on November 14 and have been on the road for nine straight games. The Eagles span of 37 days between home games is the fourth longest in Division I this season. During the road trip, FGCU played games in seven different states.

FGCU’s opponent, #16 Butler, is the highest ranked team to visit an A-Sun gym. The last time a ranked foe visited and A-Sun gym was December 30, 2003 when #25 Florida State knocked off Stetson 82-72. The Bulldogs are one of the top three-point shooting teams in the country, drilling 10.7 per game (NCAA 4th). Butler is also has one of the top scoring defenses, yielding only 55.7 points per game, the 11th best figure in NCAA Division I.
